The Department of Astronomy at the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences, University of São Paulo (IAG/USP) is pleased to host the second edition of the workshop Practical Optics for Astronomers.
Virtually all astronomical data are acquired with optical systems. The primary goal of this course is to introduce the attendees to the fundamental optical and physical principles involved in astronomical instruments and to provide insights into the engineering constraints that may affect the capabilities of the instruments available to the Brazilian community. Topics will include first-order optical design principles, telescopes, cameras, spectrographs design, basic optical engineering principles, and computer-aided design.
Limited spots available.
Certificates will be awarded to participants who attend a minimum of 2.5 days.
