Resumo | Traditionally, Brazilian seismology did not have a clear strategy for acquiring, evaluating, storing and sharing data with a long-term view. Without adequate infrastructure and effective management, the collec- tion of seismological data may be lost or partially unusable (as it has happened many times in the past), resulting in non-uniform coverage, decreasing the chances of local and international collaboration, and mak- ing it difficult to extract scientific knowledge in the future. |
Resumo | Speleothems are secondary mineral deposits formed by dripping and seeping water in caves that can record detrital or chemical remanent magnetizations at sub-annual timescales. They can provide high-resolution paleomagnetic records of short-term variations in Earth’s magnetic field, which are invaluable for understanding the dynamics of the geodynamo. |
