O Maciço Rio Apa está situado no extremo meridional do Cráton Amazônico e é separado deste pelo cinturão Tucavaca de idade Brasiliana. Trabalhos recentes vêm interpretando este bloco como sendo a continuidade meridional do Cráton Amazônico, onde o Cinturão Tucavaca representaria um rift abortado. Na região situada a sul da cidade de Bonito (MS), aflora um enxame de diques máficos que corta rochas do embasamento do Maciço Rio Apa, o qual foi denominado de Suíte Intrusiva Rio Perdido.

The petrofabric of igneous rocks is important to explore the flow dynamics of materials that formed them. In volcanic and pyroclastic rocks, the petrofabric reflects the directions in which lavas and pyroclasts flowed. Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) is a technique widely used to characterize the petrofabric of igneous rocks. However, recent studies show that this technique must be supported by a detailed mineralogical characterization to reduce the ambiguity in the interpretation.
