Abstract

Magneto-rotational instability (IMR) is believed to be responsible for the accretion observed in protostellar disks. For this to occur, the particles in the disk must be coupled to the magnetic field lines, thus requiring a minimum amount of ionization. In this work, we use the standard α model and show that the energy released by the damping of hydromagnetic waves can heat the plane middle of the disc, allowing IMR to act on a large part of the disc.
